ANNAPOLIS, MD - The Annapolis Symphony Orchestra (ASO) will kick off its 2014-15 season in grand style with the first annual Opening Night Celebration at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts on October 17 and 18, 2014.  The two-part celebration will include a pre-concert cocktail reception and a post-concert champagne celebration.

“The Opening Night Celebration is the first of its kind for the ASO,” said Event Chair Jessica Jordan Paret. “It is timed to coincide with the orchestra’s first performances in the newly renovated auditorium at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts.”  The Honorary Chair for this year’s major fundraiser is Elizabeth Richebourg Rea, and the event will be presented by Baltimore/Annapolis Lexus Dealers.

The party will begin at 5:30pm, on both Friday October 17 and Saturday October 18, with a pre-concert cocktail reception under a festively decorated tent in front of Maryland Hall.  Patrons will enter via a red carpet to enjoy bountiful gourmet hors d’oeuvres, an oyster bar, and an open bar by Palate Pleasers.  Guests will also enjoy liquor infused tea-bar courtesy of Capital Teas, and a celebration-themed signature cocktail by Lexus.

A three trumpet fanfare will call the audience into the concert hall, and at 8:00pm, Music Director José-Luis Novo will lead the ASO and renowned pianist Angela Cheng in a program titled “Opening Night Fireworks.”  Following the concert, guests will return to a lounge-style after-party to enjoy a champagne toast, tea cocktails, desserts, and the opportunity to mingle with Maestro Novo, the guest soloist, and members of the orchestra.

Guests may choose to attend either Friday or Saturday night, and concert tickets must be purchased separately.  Attire for the evening is “black tie optional.”  Event tickets are $125 per person before September 30 and $150 on or after October 1.  Tickets are available for purchase online at www.annapolissymphony.org, by calling the ASO at 410-263-0907, or by visiting the office in Room 204 at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts.  $60 of each ticket is non-tax deductible.  All proceeds support the orchestra’s education and outreach programs.

“We are gratified by the outpouring of support for this new approach to fundraising for our education and community outreach programs,” said Karen Smith, Chair of the ASO’s Board of Trustees.  In addition to the Baltimore/Annapolis Lexus Dealers, corporate sponsors for the Opening Night Celebration include PNC Wealth Management, Baldwin, Kagan & Gormley, One North Wealth Services, Fidelity Investments, and West Annapolis Family Dentistry.  Media sponsors include Comcast and What’s Up? Media.
