The Music Van

Held over a three week period in the month of May, ASO musicians representing the string, woodwind and brass families of the orchestra travel to Anne Arundel County schools to visit third grade classes for hands-on introductions to the instruments. Students are provided the opportunity to handle and play the instruments with appropriate direction from professionals. The program helps students to decide what instrument they might want to play in their school band or orchestra.
Participation in school music programs has dramatically increased throughout Anne Arundel County as a result of this popular and valuable outreach effort.
