ASO CELEBRATES COMMUNITY SPIRIT IN HOLIDAY POPS CONCERT: "HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS II"

ANNAPOLIS, MD -- Celebrating the spirit of the holidays with homage to the community and its local heroes is the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra’s Holiday Pops concert “Home for the Holidays II” on December 19,

8 p.m. at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts.  Maestro José-Luis Novo will conduct the orchestra in an evening of holiday favorites which includes an audience sing-along.  The program will highlight select soloists from the orchestra and the finale of a special multimedia community project entitled My Hometown Heroes.  The performance will take place on Friday, December 19, 2008 at 8pm at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts in Annapolis.  Tickets are $34-$44 with special $10 seats available for students ages 8-25 with ID.

 

The evening’s repertoire will feature Engelbert Humperdinck’s “Hansel and Gretel Prelude”, “March of the Toys” from Victor Herbert’s Babes in Toyland, Ralph Vaughan Williams’ “Fantasia on Greensleeves”, James Beckel’s “A Gospel Christmas”, Lucas Richman’s “Hanukkah Festival Overture”, and Irving Berlin’s “White Christmas.”  Principal trombonist David Perkel will be the soloist in the second movement of James Pugh’s “Trombone Concerto.”

 

The concert will showcase the finale of an expansive multimedia project entitled “My Hometown Heroes” with action photos of local police, fire and military personnel, the unsung heroes of every community.
